Grid Calculator

Grid Calculator allows you to calculate either a grid square locator or the latitude and longitude of a location. Grid Calculator can be used to calculate a Great Circle bearing and distance between two stations in statute miles, nautical miles, and kilometers.

The Grid Calculator is divided into two sections.

The GRIDSQUARE section (left) will calculate the Grid Square reference for a specified latitude and longitude. Enter the latitude and longitude and click on the 'Calculate' button. The code will appear in the pane to the bottom right of the GRIDSQUARE section. You can enter your location in decimal degrees or degrees, minutes and seconds. Note that the latitude and longitude should be entered as decimal numbers with positive values representing North and West and negative values representing South and East.

The DISTANCE section (right) will calculate the bearing and distance from the location specified in Local locator to the center of the Distant locator entered. Enter both Local and Distant locators and click on the 'Calculate' button. The bearing in degrees and distance in miles and kilometers will appear in the panes to the bottom right of the DISTANCE section.
